Mistakes To Avoid During The 2024 WASSCE and BECE
The 2024 WASSCE and BECE are few months away. The 2024 WASSCE will starts on 1st July and the 2024 BECE will also start on 8th July, 2024. Here are some common mistakes to avoid at the exam hall.
During WASSCE or BECE, any little mistake could either lead to the cancellation of the whole paper or it could lead to the deduction of marks.
1. It is advisable to write your name on both papers, especially the answer booklet. Failure to do this could lead to a grade of F9 because WAEC wouldn’t know the owner of such a paper.
2. It is not right to solve the easiest questions last. What if time beats you? Candidates should always go through all the questions, look for the easiest ones, and solve them first. This will make you relaxed and help boost your confidence for the difficult ones.

3. Not reading the question properly could lead to examination failure. It could lead to giving wrong answers. If you don’t read a question carefully enough, your brain can easily trick you into thinking that the question is asking you something that it’s not, leading you to write a completely different answer that doesn’t solve the actual question you’ve been set.
4. Making the mistake of providing incomplete answers to questions.
5. Answering questions without using the right vocabulary for each topic and subject.
6. Failing to plan answers before starting to write them in the answer booklet is a terrible mistake to make. Poor time management is another mistake. Some students spend nearly all their time on one or two questions and are not able to attempt the rest as required.
7. Explaining answers or writing them anyhow without relevant examples, sketches, diagrams, etc., is not advisable.
8. Wrong numbering of answers leads to mix-ups and interchange of question numbers for answers.
9. Failure to read the instructions before attempting questions can be detrimental. Candidates should be careful because some examiners will have no mercy if such mistakes are made in their papers.
Thank you.
