Each college of Education is affiliated to one public university in Ghana. In today’s article, we will look at the colleges of Education Affiliated to Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Enterpreneurial Development (AAMUSTED).

They include the following;

1.  Ada College of Education, Ada: Primary, and JHS Education
2. St. John Bosco’s College of Education, Navrongo: Primary, Early Grade, and JHS Education.
3. Wiawso College of Education, Wiawso: Primary, Early Grade, and JHS Education
4. Bagabaga College of Education, Tamale: Primary, Early Grade, and JHS Education.
5. Mampong Technical College of Education, Mampong, Ashanti: JHS Education.
6. Komenda College of Education, Komenda: Primary, Early Grade, and JHS Education
7. Akatsi College of Education, Akatsi: Primary and JHS Education
8. N. J. Ahamadiyya College of Education, Wa: Early Grade, and JHS Education.

About AAMUSTED

The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) was established on August 27, 2020, under Act 1026 of 2020 by the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana. It was formed from the merger of the College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK), and the College of Agriculture Education (CAGRIC), Asante-Mampong, which were previously campuses of the University of Education, Winneba.

AAMUSTED originated as a Technical Teachers College (TTC) in 1966, later becoming the Kumasi Advanced Technical Teachers College (KATTC) in 1978. The College of Agriculture Education evolved from the St. Andrews Training College, Akropong-Akwapim, established in 1946 by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) and the Scottish Mission..

Basic Services and Opportunities

• Training students in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for job creation and economic development.
• Equipping teachers with skills for effective teaching and learning in TVET institutions.
•  Developing entrepreneurial knowledge and skills in students.

Currently, AAMUSTED has;

• Nine faculties and twenty-three academic departments.
• Main campus in Kumasi with five faculties and twelve academic departments.
• Asante-Mampong campus with four faculties and eleven academic departments.
• Established Centre for Competency-Based Training and Research (CCBTR), Counselling Centre, and Directorate for Teacher Professional Development and Research.
